I decided to stick with WordPress for all my websites, and what you see here is the result. I’m a little torn on this one…it’ll need a bit of tweaking the way I do things to make it look nice, but I think it’s a step up from what I had. I’m still considering other possibilities, but I’m happy with the way Caught Doin’ Good has turned out. Of course design could be MUCH better, but I’m not a graphics designer, and if you start off perfect, you’ve got nowhere to go, right? I like the ability to feature videos prominently on the CDG website, but this template just pulls whatever picture I’ve put in a post and makes it the featured image in the homepage slider (thus the image you see at the right will be featured on the homepage).
As a video-maker, that seems to take control away from featuring my videos, rather than putting them front and center…can’t say I’m too happy about that. I’ll continue to work on them as the time counts down to my departure in August, so keep checking back if you’re interested.
I’m using themes by WooThemes. You have to pay a little to get them, but the support and potential for easily developing a much nicer site is worth it for me. I noticed some people like 2 Backpackers using very well-adapted themes by Woo, and I’d been recommended to Woo from others too, so I decided it was worth the extra cost.
Is there any information that you’d like to see featured on my website? Don’t hesitate to let me know!

Thanks for the advice Amanda!
I’m just starting to wrap my mind around the themes as a whole.
Most of my experience with WordPress comes from 6 years ago when I ran my Korean life blog…very much has changed since then!
I really like this theme that I have now…but I just wish it would be more video-friendly. >.< Maybe I can find a way to tweak it that way!
“if you start off perfect, you’ve got nowhere to go”
I need to remember that!! I’m too fussy.
I found it took me a while to work out how I wanted things organised and a lot of playing around. I knew how I wanted the navigation to look but getting the theme to represent that was tricky, there are just so many options.
I don’t know if you know this already but apart from the options in the woothemes menu bit in the dashboard, there are extra options under Settings. Like in “settings > reading” you can choose how many entries you want to show up on your blog page and switch the home screen bit on and off. Mine got switched off somehow and I just couldn’t work out how to get it back! My friend ended up finding that option hidden away.
Anyhoos, best of luck with it all! Like you said, there’s a lot of support and sooo many plugins for wordpress so I’m sure you’ll work it out.
