HOPE is a charity organization that provides water for people in third world countries that are suffering from the lack thereof.
That service is absolutely necessary in the world these days, and it’s wonderful to know that there are people out there that are doing their best to fill the need!
I was invited to a party at the Hilton Hotel for HOPE last night by one of my favorite YouTube users, a musician named FatBlueMan.
He’s generally a friendly guy who makes great music, and after seeing his video for Secret Garden, I’m convinced he’s a man of multi-talents: of course writing and creating music, but also filming, editing, and scouting great street musicians.
Secret Garden is a band that he found playing on the street in Nagoya where he lives. He brought them over to his apartment and recorded them in his living room. Then pulled them out to a nearby university and shot a whole music video for them!

All that is sweet, but on top of that he’s a humanitarian as well. He’s volunteered as the creative director for HOPE in Japan and written and recorded a theme song for them called Bubbling Up From the Ground. Check it out!

Last night I went out to the dinner and enjoyed a great time meeting some really cool YouTubers and learning more about that charity (and enjoying some good food.

Here’s the vid I made:

Hmm…it wasn’t a video I was trying to send a message with.
Just presenting people around me and what they’re doing.
That’s Sam, and that’s what he does.
I purposefully try not to put a personal bias in my videos by editing people out too much…it’s a bad habit to get into. The more I edit people, the more narrow my world becomes. Thinking poorly about people dedicating their lives to giving dying people water just because one guy that attended their party said condom…doesn’t seem like a very good way to think to me.
I think it was off color ending such a good message, with something stupid about a condom breaking… it changed the mood, and almost unvalidated the rest of you film. I went from being concerned and wanting to help, to being offended, and and having a feeling of disgust.
